I had a moment of inspiration and decided to host simple, affordable weddings in Hillsdale County. I called it the Thousand Dollar Wedding. The missing piece was an on-call minister to perform the ceremony. A little research was done and I was ordained a minister of the Universal Life Church which specifically allows me to officiate wedding ceremonies.
After meeting and talking to the couple, I knew they were made for each other and were getting married for all the right reasons. We selected the brief wedding ceremony. I made them breakfast, they each had a massage, and after going out for lunch, they came back to my house to get married. I enlisted the help of Don & Shirley, my neighbors from across the street, and performed my first wedding in the mid-afternoon in our great old house.
