Hillsdale College CCA Schedule 2012-2013

Hillsdale
College
regularly provides a forum for discussion about various topics of
interest during its quarterly Center for
Constructive Alternatives (CCA)
program. Authors, editors, politicians, economists, entertainers, and military personnel participate as guest speakers in these diverse and interactive 3 day events at Hillsdale College. The 2012-2013 CCA season has been announced:
  1. September 9-12 – Supreme Court History and Current Controversies. Discussion includes civil rights, health care, the 1st amendment, and religious liberty.
  2. November 11-14 – Epic Poetry. Discussion includes Homer, Beowulf, and Dante
  3. January 27-30 – Federal Income Tax Centenent Consideration. Discussion includes the 16yh amendment, fair tax, and flat tax.
  4. March 3-7. World War II Films. Movie viewing and discussion of “Casablanca”, “The Bridge on the River Kwai”. “They Were Expendable”, and “The Train”.
Famous guest speakers have included former president Ronald Reagan, former Vice President Dan Quayle, Rev. Jesse Jackson, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Green Party presidential
candidate Ralph Nader, plus Gulf War General, Norman Schwarzkopf , Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, political analysts P.J. O’Rourke and Ann Coulter, along
with film director Peter Bogdonavich and Actress Shirley Jones.
 
Lodging near
Hillsdale College is limited for these special events, so many attendants take the 7
1/2 minute drive to stay at the Munro House
Bed and Breakfast in Jonesville MI
. Requests for more information about
upcoming CCA events and invitations to these events can be coordinated by
contacting CCA@hillsdale.edu. CCAs are open to the public, but require reservations.
