Hillsdale County Fair Open this Week

“The most popular fair on earth” opened this week at the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds in Hillsdale Michigan. The Hillsdale County Fair is the longest continuously running fair in Michigan and is traditionally the final fair of the year being held during the last week of September. George Munro, the original owner of Munro House Bed and Breakfast in Jonesville, was on the first fair board back in 1851.

Lori is there for the animals and the food. I am there for the shows and the food. She likes the horses & cows, plus the display of recreational vehicles. I especially like the live entertainment at the band shell and the photography exhibit. We traditionally go to Mary Lou’s up near the Merchant Hall for humongous steak burgers, over to Fisk Fries for a bucket of French Fries, then its elephant ears for dessert, before heading home until tomorrow.

The Hillsdale County Fair runs through Saturday, September 29, and only costs $4 admission per person. There is a lot to see and do, and even more to ride and eat. The Saturday night headliner is classic rocker, Eddie Money. Special rates are in effect at Munro House during fair week.
