Market House Customer Appreciation Sale

The Market House Grocery Store in Hillsdale has an annual Customer Appreciation Sale. On this day, great prices mean long lines at the check-outs. The store does not want to hire extra staff to work for just one day, so they enlist the help of local service organizations to bag groceries for free. The Exchange Club of Hillsdale was this year’s chosen group. In return for bagging groceries at all of the check-out stands for a full day, the Market House made a generous donation to our club.

Special prices on meat, frozen foods, bakery, and groceries had townsfolk buying sale items in bulk. Extra shopping carts were brought in to handle the throng of shoppers. Despite doubling the number of carts, the cart corral was often empty. The best bet was to help an exiting customer transfer their groceries from the cart to the vehicle, then use their cart to do your shopping. Cooperation at its finest.

Celebrity baggers included the Innkeeper at the Munro House B&B in Jonesville, the Hillsdale College Volleyball Team, and the Hillsdale County Judges.
