Discounted Rates to Celebrate Columbus Day

Munro House Bed and Breakfast in Jonesville Michigan is offering discounted rates to celebrate Columbus Day. For those people who don’t have to go to work on Monday, October 14, a Sunday night stay in a standard room at the Munro House is reduced to just $119 for bed and breakfast. A Jacuzzi room can be reserved for just $169. All rooms sleep 2 adults and include a fresh hot made-to-order breakfast each day. Additional meals, massages, and movies can be added to your getaway package.

Columbus Day is one of those holidays that some people get to take off from work, but most people still have to punch in on the time clock. So if you are one of the lucky ones who has a 3 day weekend, the Sunday night before Columbus Day has special pricing. The fall colors will be near peak, so an October getaway on a long weekend during this time frame is ideal for relaxing and viewing the fall foliage.

Government and bank employees plus postal workers and educators are the general pool of laborers who typically get a paid holiday on the second Monday in October. In Michigan, Columbus Day honors the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus who was the first to successfully sail and map a route across the Atlantic Ocean from Europe in 1492. Hawaiians celebrate the discovery of their state by the Polynesians on this date and call it Discovery Day. Other states may commemorate Indigenous People on this day or do not recognize the holiday at all. In the states that do recognize the era of discovery, a holiday is celebrated to honor exploration.
