There is a new building under construction at Hillsdale College on the grounds of the George Roche Sports Complex. The word is: that another gymnasium is being built. This one will house a 200 meter regulation indoor track with up to 8 lanes of competition. Additionally, 4 indoor tennis courts will be included. The frame is going up and the plan is to complete the project by the end of basketball season in the Spring of 2013. This air conditioned facility will double as a large indoor gathering area for events like commencement, concerts, and guest speakers. .JPG)
The Jesse Phillips Arena will be redesigned at the end of the Basketball season in 2013. The current one wood floor basketball court and indoor track will be redesigned to be used for basketball and volleyball. Four wood court basketball-volleyball courts will be positioned East-West instead of the current North-South. Additionally, a mezzanine will be added that will include a climbing wall, exercise machines, and dance studio.
A turf building will also be constructed that will have artificial grass for winter and foul weather practice of outdoor sports. It will also be used for intramural and club activities. I hope to continue to utilize the complex that is located just 7 1/2 minutes from the Munro House Bed and Breakfast in Jonesville, MI as a workout facility that is open to the public.Mike Venturini
