Johnny T’s Bistro is a fine dining restaurant on the South side of Hillsdale Michigan. It is located just East of the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds near the water tower. Once known as Savarino’s Italian Restaurant, Johnny T’s has been redefined as the place to go in Hillsdale for Italian food plus steaks, seafood, and chicken dinners as well as lunch and pizza to go. Great food at reasonable prices in a casual atmosphere makes Johnny T’s an excellent choice for friends, couples, business colleagues, and families.
On this occasion, our group chose some seafood options. The New Orleans Tilapia is a favorite for its unique flavor. It is a piece of broiled white fish that is covered with a Cajun sauce and topped with lobster and crab stuffed shrimp. Priced in the low teens, this seafood selection is delicious and a cost effective choice on their varied menu. On this day, cottage cheese and poppy seed rolls were chosen to precede the main entree that was served with a baked potato. The portion was just right and the preparation was excellent.
Another seafood selection that we picked was a new item on the menu. We chose the Sante Fe Icelandic Cod. This item was chosen because of the description of its unique flavors. A broiled piece of white fish was covered with melted cojack cheese and pico de gallo. This item paired excellent flavors with expert preparation. Also priced in the low teens, this fresh fish selection was another reasonably priced item on their menu. A side salad and poppy seed rolls were chosen to precede the main entree that was served with garlic mashed potatoes.
Because we were celebrating a birthday in our group, dessert was mandatory. We chose to share a brownie topped with whipped cream and home made ice cream. The brownie was prepared with huge chunks of chocolate and served warm. We chose vanilla from a list of over a dozen flavors. Four spoons accompanied the final course as we all dug though the whipped cream and ice cream to get to the brownie. We had to restrain ourselves from licking the plate, as it was that good. Everything was excellent, and this extra large dessert for 4 was priced right.
When we go to Hillsdale for a great meal, Johnny T’s Bistro is our number one choice. We get consistently good food and service at good prices. Johnny T’s is open every day for lunch and dinner, except Sundays and Holidays.
