Munro House Bed and Breakfast in Jonesville Michigan will once again participate in the B&Bs for Vets program. Munro House will be giving away free rooms to active duty soldiers or veterans of any era in a call-in contest format. Rooms will be released at random intervals for this contest via the Munro House Facebook feed. After posting the announcement of a free room, the first caller will get the room at no charge for Sunday, November 11, 2018. A photo of the veteran in uniform and permission to use it for online promotions is required. After breakfast, the veteran and guest are invited to join a free Veterans Day program at the Jonesville Middle School gym, just 3 blocks away. The event begins at 11:00 AM and is traditionally well-attended by students, residents, officials, and business people.

A guest speaker will make a speech about their experience with war. Additionally, students compete by writing a speech under the theme of freedom or patriotism. The winning paper will be read by its author as part of the event. The high school band will play while flag twirlers perform with the color guard on standby. The program was developed and sponsored by the local American Legion Post and has been an annual event for at least 10 years.
