There is an apparent partnership between WalMart and NASCAR. The Jonesville WalMart Store has regular promotions and visits by NASCAR sponsors during race weekends at nearby Michigan International Speedway (MIS) in Brooklyn. Cardboard cutouts of drivers and products are stationed all around the store, while one day features actual race cars parked in front of the store. In the past, as many as 10 stock cars have been on display for fans to check out close-up on the Thursday of race week.
The 2012 race weekend at MIS features Gatorade Pole Day on Friday with a full day of practice and qualifying at the track. Saturday has more practice and qualifying plus the VFW 200 Camping World Truck Series Race. Sunday is the big day featuring Sprint Cup Series Pure Michigan 400. Kid Rock will be the Grand Marshall. The NASCAR Village is set up all weekend for fans to enjoy the NASCAR experience. Sponsors offer trailers filled with memorabilia, samples, and interactive booths. Going to MIS is not just about the race, over 100,000 people get in the spirit of racing with all of the other things to do.
The Munro House Bed and Breakfast in Jonesville is the most comfortable lodging in South Central Michigan. Located just a half hour from the track (and 2 minutes from WalMart), race fans who don’t want to camp, stay in Jonesville for more of a home-like experience
